The Risk of Free Thought

Hello. This is tikkun mada, my personal thoughtsphere for half-baked ideas. One might say there is a danger in publishing unfinished thoughts, and I admit the danger is quite real. It’s rooted in a variety of human conditions, for example, fear of cancel culture or perfectionism. But I find tikkun mada to be an opportunity for me to cultivate beauty in the unfinished works of my life. Development begins with a bad first draft. So here you will find a plethora of first drafts.

Within these half-baked ideas you will notice three recurring themes: life, connection, and the soul. tikkun mada means “to repair science.” It also can be interpreted as “the science of repair.” I chose this title because I believe that human relationships are more than temporal; they are also eternally biological, sociological, and spiritual. To me, the sciences and the humanities are colleges that are eternally conjoined through human relationships because we created them. It is my goal to explore them through writing and see how I might better intertwine their principles in order to become a better thinker.

Publishing about ways “to repair science” assumes no shortage of presumptuousness. (After all, I am quite young in my career as a scientist.) So this website isn’t just about my overcoming perfectionism, nor is it just an excuse for me to write bad first drafts; it’s also a way for me to practice getting less and less wrong.

I hope you enjoy.
